Where Excellence Becomes the Standard

At American Apex Academy, we believe the current educational landscape has settled for mediocrity. We exist to ensure Excellence Becomes The Standard.

High Standards

High standards are not an aspiration, they are the baseline.

Safe & Heard

Every student is seen, encouraged, and supported as a whole person. Not just a grade.

Progression Over Perfection

We prioritize the pursuit of daily growth over the trap of waiting for the perfect moment.

How We Build Leaders

Every week is structured to develop the complete individual: mind, body, character, and life skills. This is not a tutoring center. This is a training ground.

The People Behind the Mission

Our instructors are chosen for their character first. Every member of the AAA team believes in our mission and holds themselves to the same standard we set for our students.

James Lockard, Founder and Director of American Apex Academy

James Lockard

Founder and Director

I have always had a passion and drive for helping others develop and become the best versions of themselves. From my time serving in the United States Air Force, having led teams of airmen in multiple operations overseas, to leading large teams of over 150 people in departments across multiple casino operations on the Las Vegas Strip, I always made it my main focus to develop myself first.

As a Nutrition and Wellness Coach for over three years, I have come to see that our current education system has failed our children for far too long. My mission is to give every upcoming generation the best skills and developmental tools possible, helping them grow into more confident, capable young men and women. American Apex Academy is here to change culture and community from here forward.

Grant Fioretto, Academy Coach at American Apex Academy

Grant Fioretto

Academy Coach

I believe true leadership starts with self-awareness: holding yourself to a standard of growth before you ask it of anyone else. My own path was shaped by years volunteering with the Nevada Children's Cancer Society, work that taught me what it means to show up for others. That same drive carries into everything I do at American Apex Academy, designing training that pushes students to meet their full potential.

Daquawn "Coach Q" Sells, Academy Coach at American Apex Academy

Daquawn "Coach Q" Sells

Academy Coach

I've spent over seven years working with youth as a mentor, coach, and former K-12 Athletic Director, and I've built my approach around one idea: structure and consistency build confidence. My focus is teaching responsibility, respect, and perseverance, the same lessons I bring home coaching my own two sons.

Anthony Tucker, Academy Coach at American Apex Academy

Anthony Tucker

Academy Coach

My energy is contagious, and I thrive in group settings, building strong connections and a real sense of community. I believe in progression over perfection: every day is a chance to become better than yesterday. Through fitness, sports, and team-based activities, I teach communication, discipline, and leadership, because being a coach means being a mentor too. My goal is simple: build stronger bodies, sharper minds, and confident leaders, one challenge at a time.

Shani Patcher, Nutrition and Culinary Chief at American Apex Academy

Shani Patcher

Nutrition and Culinary Chief

I bring over 15 years of experience in food and beverage industry management, training and leading large teams. I've also launched two successful businesses from scratch in social media sales and marketing. I practice a healthy, active lifestyle: daily walks, resistance training, and eating mainly whole foods and home cooked meals made with clean ingredients. I'm passionate about cooking healthy food that tastes amazing, and sharing that knowledge with others and the next generation so they can enjoy a happy, healthy lifestyle.
